Insurer automates regulatory licence checks on the public register
Staff were manually logging into the Insurance Authority's public register to confirm that every broker and agent they worked with held an active licence. We built a bot that runs the whole check — including the captcha and one-time password — and files the results automatically.
What we used: RPA Development, AI & Machine Learning

1The problem
- Every checking cycle meant logging into the Insurance Authority's register of licensed intermediaries and searching one name at a time.
- The portal's captcha and one-time password made even partial automation difficult.
- Each agent and broker had to be confirmed as actively licensed, with results recorded for audit.
- The work was periodic, high-volume, and entirely repetitive — prime automation territory, if the login could be solved.
2What we did
- 1A bot opens the Insurance Authority register portal and navigates to the right entry point — firm or individual search — for each record in the input file.
- 2The portal's 5-character captcha is read by a custom Biscovery AI model, which fills in the code and retries up to 10 times; if it still fails, the bot screenshots the page, emails the team, and stops safely.
- 3The one-time password is requested and read from the mailbox automatically — waiting up to two minutes and resending until login succeeds.
- 4Inside the portal, the bot downloads the Full Intermediary List and filters it to active agents.
- 5Each record's reference number is matched against the licence number on the intermediary list to confirm status.
- 6Every run's results are uploaded to SharePoint in a timestamped folder, with a logbook recording update time, run log, and status.
- 7The team receives a completion email from their own template when the run finishes — and an exception email with a screenshot whenever something needs human attention.
