Apparel brands' tech packs tracked and compared across PLM portals — automatically
Product teams had to watch several PLM portals for updated tech packs, download PDFs and images by hand, and compare old against new versions themselves. We built an unattended robot fleet — 10 robots running 7×24 — that logs into each portal, spots every modification, downloads and versions each tech pack and its images, produces detailed change-comparison reports, and emails each team its own summary.

1The problem
- Tech packs sit in a different PLM portal per brand — Bamboo Rose, Flex PLM, Centric PLM — each with its own login, layout, and export behaviour.
- Teams checked portals by hand for updates; one missed modification meant sampling or production against an out-of-date spec.
- Hundreds of styles per season, each with a PDF and images — downloading and filing them correctly consumed hours every week.
- Spotting what actually changed between two PDF versions by eye was slow and error-prone.

- 110 unattended robots run 7×24, covering the tech pack process for 16+ brands across their PLM portals.
- 2Robots log in, filter by season and department, and work through every style — nobody logs into a portal manually.
- 3Two-level change detection keeps runs fast: a modification-date check first, then a full content comparison only for documents that genuinely changed.
- 4Every tech pack PDF and image is downloaded and versioned in cloud storage — the full history stays retrievable.
- 5For each changed document, a detailed comparison report shows exactly what moved between versions.
- 6Each team receives a custom email summary; any error triggers an exception alert, so nothing fails silently.
